Many of us have struggled with repetitive ingrown toenails that we seem to dig out with pain only to have them return weeks or months later and have to start the cycle again. Often the pain of digging out the nail is extreme and the risk of infection and increased problems sometimes occur. A newer procedure that is performed in our offices removes the ingrown nail border with the use of a chemical and requires no incisions and no stiches. The procedure successfully prevents the return of the ingrown toenail 98% of the time. The procedure takes aobut 5 minutes and requires no real change in activity and running or physical activity is permitted the next day. When healed, there is no damage to the nail and is very difficult to tell the ingrown nail border was removed. The procedure is performed and is successful at any age from children to adults. If this is a problem for you, don't continue to struggle with bathroom surgery if you don't have to. We hope all of you are having a great summer.
